Paid position opening for Production Editor at Dancecult (deadline for
applicants: 22 June)
This is a call for a suitably qualified person to assume the role of
Production Editor at Dancecult: Journal of Electronic Music and Dance
Culture. The successful candidate will join the Dancecult Editorial
Board and will be responsible for producing one issue of Dancecult per
year (Dancecult is published in mid November each year). The work of the
Production Editor is performed each year in Oct-Nov, and the successful
candidate will commence their role this year (producing the Nov 2026
issue). The Production Editor works as a consultant compensated £1,500
per year by the University of Huddersfield, the publisher of Dancecult.

Responsibilities:
- oversee production of Dancecult web (HTML) and print (PDF) issues
- undertake HTML/CSS and InDesign layout/design and publication of
content
- oversee and scan all HTML/CSS content for Production code compliance
- update and ensure implementation of Dancecult HTML & PDF Production
Guide
- oversee and scan all Word content for Dancecult Style Guide compliance
- ensure organised environment, properly packaged files, code compliancy
Publishing & Design:
- InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, MS Word, Acrobat
- HTML & CSS proficiency
- detail-oriented attention to design, text, code
- font management
- Chicago Manual of Style, 16th Edition
Desirable:
- some Python skills (hands-on experience)
- familiarity with the Dancecult Style Guide
- experience publishing with Dancecult
